Island Boy Is Student of the Week

That’s right, our own Haitian sensation is the featured pupil in Kinder Ready for the whole stinkin’ week.

As part of the gala festivities, we were asked to write a letter introducing him to his classmates.  Here it is:

INTRODUCING ISLAND BOY

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please allow me to introduce you to an international man of adventure, Island Boy.  Although he is only four years old, he has already lived a full and exciting life.  He has lived in two countries.  He speaks two languages.  He has survived a huge earthquake.  And he came into the United States on a small plane in the middle of the night.

You may think he sounds like a spy.  You may be right.  This man holds two passports and has several different looks, including dreadlocks and no hair at all.  During his life, he has had three different names.  How mysterious!

His earliest pets were chickens.  He has lived in a hut, in a house, and for a short period of time, he slept completely under the stars.

He was born in a city called Jacmel in Haiti.  That city is known for its artists, its colorful masks and its beautiful beaches.  When he was younger, he liked a shellfish called conch, or lambi in his native language, Kreyol.

He may look a little different from you.  That’s because he is a little different.  He is a very special guy – especially to his Mama, Papa, brother Subway Dude and sister The Fashionista.

If you haven’t done so already, please take the time to get to know Island Boy better.

Thank you.
