Teacher Appreciation Week

May 2-6 is Teacher Appreciation Week.  Here is a list of things I appreciate about teachers I’ve had in my life.

  • Teachers who make learning fun.
  • Teachers who lead you to discover something new about yourself.
  • Teachers who never make you feel like you are wasting their time.
  • Teachers who are always there with an encouraging word.
  • Teachers who are happy to see you every day.
  • Teachers who introduce you to new ideas.
  • Teachers who give you the confidence to take risks.
  • Teachers who pick you back up when you fall.
  • Teachers who show you how to learn for yourself.
  • Teachers who take an interest in who you are.
  • Teachers who take the time to learn your name.
  • Teachers who learn from students.
  • Teachers who have fun with you.
  • Teachers with a good sense of humor.
  • Teachers who can laugh at themselves.
  • Teachers who have varied interests.
  • Teachers who share something about themselves with their students.
  • Teachers who use different strategies to reach their students.
  • Teachers who are kind to all of their students.
  • Teachers who aren’t afraid to admit they made a mistake.
  • Teachers who aren’t afraid to admit they don’t know something.
  • Teachers who come back to students with the answers when they don’t know them initially.
  • Teachers who give to others.
  • Teachers who see the big picture.
  • Teachers who care about the world outside of their classroom.
  • Teachers who are creative.
  • Teachers who are passionate.
  • Teachers who are mentors.
  • Teachers who smile.
  • Teachers who can stop you with a look.
  • Teachers who teach you without you even realizing you are learning.
  • Teachers who make the time in their classrooms fly by.
  • Teachers who listen.
  • Teachers who make you feel welcome.
  • Teachers who make you feel smart.
  • Teachers who like questions.
  • Teachers who make you want to do your best all of the time.
  • Teachers who persevere.
  • Teachers who make you feel special.
  • Teachers who are fair.
  • Teachers who inspire you.
