I have spent most of today with a big smile plastered on my face.  I think I am especially excited about the summer this year because there are fewer unknowns than we had last summer.  Last June I could see the end of my time as a stay-at-home Mom.  When IB came home in January, September seemed a million years away.  As SD and TF finished school last year, suddenly I felt like the clock was ticking.

IB was headed to school full time in the fall and we weren’t sure how that was going to go.  I won’t lie.  September was rough, but we made it through.

IB now has a full year of school under his belt. He knows what school is about.  Most importantly, he understands that all five of us have places to go during the day, but we all come back to Kay Nou at night.

He is very excited about kindergarten.  He has been to his new school and is eager to point it out every time we drive by.  He knows he’ll be going there after the summer is over.

Until then we’ve got a busy, busy summer ahead of us.  Here’s what we’ve got cooking:

Subway Dude

  • Driver’s Ed – Every day for 6 weeks
  • Saxophone Lessons
  • Leading Sectionals for the Quaker Marching Band’s saxophones
  • Working at Subway and socking his money away
  • Visiting potential college campuses
  • Time with his girlfriend

The Fashionista

  • Hanging out with friends
  • Piano lessons
  • Percussion Sectionals for Quaker Marching Band
  • Taking gorgeous photos of herself that give TM and RG heart attacks

Island Boy

  • Lots of swimming
  • Continuing to learn to ride his two wheeler
  • Micro Soccer!
  • 2 week Kindergarten program at his new school
  • Summer Reading Program: 20 minutes a day, 5 times a week
  • Play dates with friends from Pre-K
  • Haiti Picnic for Adoptive Families

Running Girl

  • Visiting to Smokey Mountains in TN with RG’s sister & family
  • Orff Level II classes at Eastman School of Music
  • Road trip to South Dakota with the Fam
  • Running, running and more running
  • Swimming and biking
  • Mom taxi for various kids’ activities
  • Reading and boy, do I have a long list!

  • Starting new job
  • Heading up new Veterans’ Committee for NY State
  • Planning and organizing all family road trips
  • Riding bike
  • Working out at gym
  • 25th Reunion with Paris Buddies
  • Swiming & hanging out at the pool

    Oh man…you guys need to lock Waverly up til she’s 18. Truly stunning! And that little heartbreaker of a munchkin just gets cuter by the day! have a great summer Lancers!

    oops I omitted Subway dude…but I get to hear what a great student and character he is with some regularity! And goofy as the above photo is, he’s a handsome lad as well!
